Assertive communication means expressing your thoughts, needs, and boundaries clearly and respectfully. Learning it helps you reduce misunderstandings, manage conflict, and build healthier relationships. Start by identifying your feelings and goals, using "I" statements (for example, "I feel frustrated when..."), keeping your tone calm and steady, and maintaining appropriate body language. Practice setting small, concrete boundaries and saying no when necessary. Expect mistakes at first and reflect on what worked, adjust, and try again.
Over time, assertiveness increases self-respect and mutual respect, making interactions more honest and effective.
